Rodebjer Portraits: Lap-See Lam
Working as a stylist assistant in the fashion industry in her early twenties, Lap-See Lam found herself drawn to the art world. “It wasn’t an immediate realization for me that one could become an artist.”
Born in Stockholm, Lam found her way to a preparatory art school and from there has developed a career that laces the contemporary with the traditional.

There’s a conspiratorial closeness in her body of work, a certain intimacy that comes with the introspective nature she cultivates. “As a child, I spent a lot of time drawing and was quite introverted and shy, So I liked doing that – being in my own world.”
“Think of my body of work like building blocks in a universe I’m creating. Each piece adds to a collection of stories, forming a tapestry of narratives. It’s like a tangled root system, with works branching out in different directions. In this world, you’ll find a mix of places, characters, and tales—some inspired by history, others from my imagination.”
