Carin Rodebjer lives and works in New York. When she first moved to New York and started studying at F.I.T (Fashion Institute of Technology) she was fully charmed by the fashion scene and the inspirations it provided. Her design philosophy is based on wardrobe essentials in combination with items catching the zeitgeist:
“I respect history and I am sensitive to the future, translating it into both long-lasting style and fashion forward items. I believe in a style that is effortlessly elegant without loosing comfort, allowing women the luxury to get on with life without restriction.”
Carin Rodebjer was born and raised on the Swedish island Gotland where she grew up on a farm far away from fashion. Her deep interest of clothes and sewing were always a natural part of her life because of her mothers love of textile crafts.
A creative friend of her mother’s opened her eyes to fashion through her individual style. “The way she dressed was elegant yet relaxed. As soon as I stepped inside her home I felt like the world expanded.”
1999
Carin Rodebjer starts to sell her handmade designs in high profile New York stores after being approached by store managers on the streets while wearing her own designs. At the time she is studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
2001
Anders Rodebjer, a businessman and Carin's cousin decides to invest in the company. The Rodebjer label is founded.
2003
Carin Rodebjer is awarded Designer of the Year by Swedish Elle.
2005
Carin Rodebjer is awarded the two most important fashion awards in Sweden; Guldknappen by Damernas Värld and Designer of the Year by Swedish Elle.
She also wins the Fresh Faces of Fashion award by Gen Art in New York.
2007
Rodebjer opens its first flagship store at Jakobsbergsgatan 6 in Stockholm, Sweden.
2010
Carin Rodebjer receives the Designer of the Year award by Habit, a Swedish fashion and retail trade association.
2011
Rodebjer is the first brand ever to receive the Designer of the Year award by Swedish Elle for the third time. Rodebjer launches a web shop and starts the first international branch in New York, Rodebjer Inc. is formed.
